Author Guidelines

ARTICLE

Font Type and Paper Size

The entire manuscript must be written in Times New Roman, 12-point font, except for the article title. The paper size must be A4, with the following margins: 3 cm at the top, 2.5 cm at the bottom, 3 cm on the left, and 2 cm on the right.

Citation Style

All citations must be provided in footnotes and formatted according to The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition (Full Note).

Manuscript Length

The manuscript must not exceed 7,000 words, including all components from the title through the reference list.

Article Title

The article title must be formatted in Title Case, with the first letter of each major word capitalized. It must be center-aligned, bold, and set in 14-point font.

Author Names, Affiliations, and Correspondence Address

Author names, institutional affiliations, and the correspondence address must be presented consecutively on three lines, using 12-point font and center alignment. Author names and the correspondence address must be in bold type. The correspondence address must also be italicized.

For manuscripts with multiple authors, the names of the second and subsequent authors must be separated by semicolons (;).

Abstract

For articles written in Indonesian, abstracts must be provided in both Indonesian and English. For articles written in English, only an English abstract is required.

The English abstract must be written in italics, justified, and single-spaced, using 12-point font. It must contain between 100 and 200 words and be presented as a concise, single paragraph. The abstract must clearly state the research objective, the method employed, the principal findings, and the conclusion.

Keywords

Keywords must consist of words or phrases that appear in the abstract and reflect the principal subject matter of the research. Keywords must be separated by semicolons (;).

Introduction

The introduction must be justified and formatted with 1.5 line spacing. It must present the following elements in sequence: a general background to the research topic; a review of relevant previous scholarship (state of the art) establishing the context for the study; an explicit statement of the article's scholarly novelty or original contribution; and the research problem or hypothesis.

The final part of the introduction must clearly state the objective of the article. A separate literature review section, as commonly found in research reports, is not permitted. Instead, the discussion of previous scholarship must be integrated into the state of the art presented in the introduction to establish the article's scholarly contribution and demonstrate its novelty.

Research Methods

The research methods section must be justified and formatted with 1.5 line spacing. Depending on the nature of the study, the methods employed may include qualitative research, quantitative research, literature-based research, exegetical analysis, or other appropriate scholarly approaches.

The methods used to address the research questions must be explained in sufficient detail, including the research design, procedures, and stages of analysis undertaken. The description must enable readers to understand how the research was conducted and how the findings were obtained.

Results and Discussion

The results and discussion section must be justified and formatted with 1.5 line spacing. This section presents the research findings and critically examines their significance in relation to the research questions, theoretical framework, and relevant scholarship.

The findings must be clearly presented and supported by adequate data, textual evidence, or other relevant scholarly materials, as appropriate to the research methodology. They must directly address the research questions or hypotheses stated in the introduction.

The discussion must critically engage with existing arguments, perspectives, theories, and research findings. It should identify points of agreement and disagreement between the present findings and previous scholarship, explaining their significance and implications for the field of study.

Where subsections are necessary, their headings must use Title Case, with the first letter of each major word capitalized, except for conjunctions and other minor words. The following heading structure should be used:

Results and Discussion

Use this subsection to present a detailed explanation and interpretation of the research findings.

Subsection of Results and Discussion

Use this heading level to address specific issues, arguments, or details arising from the research findings.

Conclusion

The conclusion must be justified and formatted with 1.5 line spacing. It must provide a clear answer to the research questions or hypotheses and demonstrate how the research objectives have been addressed.

The conclusion must not merely repeat the results and discussion. Instead, it must synthesize the principal findings in relation to the stated research objectives or hypotheses and highlight the study's main scholarly contribution. Recommendations may also be included to identify potential directions for further research or subsequent scholarly inquiry.

The conclusion must be presented in a single paragraph.

Acknowledgments / Author Contribution Statement

For articles written by more than one author, an acknowledgment or author contribution statement is required. Authors must acknowledge the contributions of the second and subsequent authors by clearly specifying their respective roles in the preparation, development, and completion of the article.

Alternatively, authors may provide an author contribution statement confirming that the article resulted from collaboration among the listed authors and specifying the contribution made by each author.

References

All sources cited in the manuscript must be included in the reference list. Each article must contain at least 10 references.

At least 60% of the references must be drawn from primary scholarly sources, particularly peer-reviewed journal articles published within the preceding 10 years. Authors are encouraged to prioritize recent, relevant, and academically rigorous scholarship.

Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software, such as Mendeley or Zotero, to organize citations and references and ensure consistency in formatting.

The Journal of Asian Orientation in Theology follows The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition, using the full-note citation system. Footnotes and the reference list must be formatted consistently with the journal's prescribed citation style. The reference list must use single line spacing.
