Post-Publication Discussions and Corrections

The Journal of Asian Orientation in Theology encourages open scholarly discussion, transparency, and accountability in academic publishing. This policy outlines the journal’s commitment to facilitating post-publication discussions and establishing procedures for correcting, revising, expressing concern about, or retracting published articles when necessary to maintain the integrity and reliability of the scholarly record. The journal follows the Core Practices outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Post-Publication Discussions

The Journal of Asian Orientation in Theology welcomes constructive, evidence-based discussions of published articles. Authors, readers, and members of the scholarly community are encouraged to raise questions, offer critical assessments, and contribute additional perspectives that may advance academic inquiry and debate.

The journal provides the following avenues for post-publication discussion:

Letters to the Editor

Readers may submit letters to the editor containing comments, criticisms, questions, or additional insights concerning published articles. Submissions should be scholarly, respectful, relevant, and supported by appropriate evidence. The editorial team will evaluate submissions for relevance, academic merit, and compliance with the journal’s editorial policies. Selected letters may be published to facilitate scholarly dialogue. Where appropriate, the authors of the original articles may be invited to respond.

Comments on the Journal Website

The Journal of Asian Orientation in Theology does not provide facilities for readers to post comments directly on its website. This approach helps maintain appropriate moderation and reduce the risk of spam, abuse, and other security concerns. Readers who wish to comment on published articles should submit their comments through the journal’s designated submission process or contact the editorial office.

External Moderated Platforms

Readers may also discuss published articles through appropriate external scholarly platforms, including moderated services such as PubPeer, where applicable. Discussions conducted on external platforms do not replace the journal’s formal procedures for investigating concerns, correcting errors, or taking other editorial action.

Reporting Post-Publication Concerns

Authors, readers, reviewers, and other members of the scholarly community may report suspected errors, ethical violations, or concerns regarding published articles to the editorial office. Reports should identify the article concerned and provide sufficient information or supporting evidence to enable an appropriate assessment.

The editorial team will assess reports fairly and confidentially where appropriate. Individuals directly implicated in a complaint or who have a conflict of interest will not participate in decisions concerning the matter. Authors may be invited to respond to the concerns before a decision is made, where appropriate.

Compliance and Transparency

The editorial team, reviewers, and authors are expected to cooperate with reasonable requests relating to post-publication inquiries and corrections. All editorial actions will be proportionate to the issue identified and consistent with the journal’s publication ethics policies.

Corrections, expressions of concern, and retraction notices will be documented and made publicly accessible on the journal’s website. The journal will communicate editorial decisions to the relevant parties and provide explanations appropriate to the circumstances, while respecting confidentiality and applicable legal or ethical obligations.

Review of the Policy

The Journal of Asian Orientation in Theology will periodically review and update this policy to ensure that it remains consistent with evolving best practices in scholarly publishing, publication ethics, and the maintenance of the scholarly record. Any revisions will be published on the journal’s official website.
