Data and Reproducibility

Journal of Asian Orientation in Theology is committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and scientific rigor in scholarly research. This policy outlines the journal’s approach to data availability, research reproducibility, reporting guidelines, and the registration of clinical trials and other study designs where applicable. The journal follows the Core Practices outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Data Availability

Journal of Asian Orientation in Theology encourages authors to make the data underlying their research findings available and accessible to readers whenever appropriate. Authors should provide sufficient information about their data sources, research methods, analytical procedures, and interpretation of findings to support transparency, verification, and reproducibility. Where necessary and justified, the journal may request access to supporting data or research materials during the editorial and peer-review process, subject to applicable ethical, legal, and confidentiality requirements.

For Quantitative Research

Authors conducting quantitative research are encouraged to deposit relevant datasets in reputable data repositories or provide a link to the data in their manuscripts. Where data cannot be made publicly available because of ethical, legal, confidentiality, or other legitimate restrictions, authors should clearly explain the reasons and, where feasible, describe the procedures through which qualified researchers may request access.

For Qualitative Research

Authors conducting qualitative research should provide clear descriptions of their data sources, sampling procedures, research methods, and analytical approaches. Where appropriate and ethically permissible, authors may include excerpts or representative examples of the data to support their interpretations and conclusions. Authors must protect participants’ privacy and confidentiality and must not disclose identifiable or sensitive information without appropriate authorization.

Reporting Guidelines

Journal of Asian Orientation in Theology encourages authors to follow relevant reporting guidelines appropriate to their research design and discipline. The use of such guidelines can improve the clarity, completeness, and transparency of scholarly reporting and help readers, reviewers, and editors assess the quality and credibility of the research. Authors should identify and follow applicable guidelines where available.

Clinical Trial Registration and Research Registration

For clinical trials and other studies requiring registration under applicable ethical standards or disciplinary conventions, authors should register their studies in an appropriate public registry before participant enrollment or data collection, as applicable. The journal recognizes the principles promoted by the World Health Organization (WHO) International Clinical Trials Registry Platform and supports appropriate registration practices in accordance with international standards.

For research in theology and related disciplines, clinical trial registration may not be relevant. Authors should nevertheless provide registration details for other registered research designs where applicable and disclose relevant ethical approvals or research protocols when required.

Reproducibility and Verification

Journal of Asian Orientation in Theology values transparency and the possibility of verifying scholarly findings. Authors should provide sufficient methodological details, research protocols, analytical procedures, and relevant supporting materials to enable readers to understand how conclusions were reached. Where full replication is not appropriate or feasible, particularly in interpretive, historical, philosophical, or qualitative research, authors should provide a clear account of their sources, interpretive framework, and reasoning.

Data Citation

Authors should appropriately cite datasets, archival materials, digital resources, and other sources used in their research, giving proper credit to their creators and facilitating verification. Data citations should be included in the reference list and formatted according to the journal’s applicable citation and reference guidelines. Authors should provide persistent identifiers, such as Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), where available.

Compliance Check

The editorial team and peer reviewers of the Journal of Asian Orientation in Theology may assess compliance with this policy during manuscript evaluation. Authors may be asked to provide additional information about data availability, research methods, ethical safeguards, registration, or reporting guidelines. Failure to provide necessary information may affect the editorial decision, depending on the nature of the research and the significance of the omission.

Review of the Policy

Journal of Asian Orientation in Theology will periodically review and update this policy to ensure that it remains consistent with evolving best practices in research transparency, data sharing, ethical research, and reproducibility. Any revisions will be published on the journal’s official website.
