Professor Beatrice Ekanjume-Ilongo is a holder of a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Yaoundé 1, Cameroon, and a Professor of Linguistics in the Department of English at the National University of Lesotho. She has held several administrative positions including Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the National University of Lesotho from 1st June, 2019 to 31st August, 2021. Prior to this, she was the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities from 1st June 2014 to 30th May, 2019; and Head of Department of English from 1st September 2008 to 30th May, 2014. She has previously taught in the University of Yaounde 1 (2000 – 2003) as a Graduate Assistant and University of Burundi (2003 – June 2007) as a Lecturer. Since July 2007, she has been teaching a broad range of linguistics courses in the English Department of the National University of Lesotho. Prof. Ekanjume-Ilongo also has a high profile of postgraduate supervision, as she supervises Honours, Masters and PhD theses/dissertations. She is a prolific scholar who has published several articles in accredited and refereed journals, and is an author of three books. Her research interests include Phonetics, Phonology, Morphology, Sociolinguistics, African Linguistics, Error Analysis, Onomastics, Communication and Pragmatics.
