Miguel Angel Pillado currently works as a researcher at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany. Before moving to Germany, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Hispanic Studies at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, USA. He earned his doctorate and master's degrees from the University of California, Berkeley in 2014, and his bachelor's in History and Spanish from Occidental College in 2005. His research interests and publications include 19th and 20th-century Latin American literature and culture. His most recent book, La ciudad de una y mil máscaras. Nociones de Tijuana y la identidad tijuanense en la narrativa local, was published in 2019 by Peter Lang Publishing. He has also published articles on Latin American cinema, migration, and costumbrismo.
