Abstract
Suffering is an inseparable part of the human experience and often raises profound questions about the meaning of life. In the context of Ignatian spirituality, suffering is viewed not only as a challenge but also as an opportunity for spiritual growth and closeness to God. This paper explores the understanding of suffering within Ignatian spirituality, emphasizing acceptance, solidarity, and hope as central themes in the teachings of St. Ignatius. Through reflection, service to others, and spiritual practices such as retreats and storytelling, individuals are invited to find meaning in suffering and strengthen their relationships with God and the community. Ultimately, suffering is regarded as a friend that teaches us about life, faith, and empathy, opening the way to a deeper understanding of love and sacrifice.
