MISKONSEPSI MAHASISWA PGSD TERHADAP MIKROORGANISME

Abstract


The children basic knowledge about microorganism is formed during the process of learning from their environment. The concept that embedded from early childhood is affected by family, community, and school. Microorganism is a single cell creatures that able to hold its own metabolism. The microorganisms consisting of bacteria, archea, single celled algae, yeast, and protozoa. This study is a qualitative research (case studies) with a limited number of samples. There are 48 students of PGSD in a private college have provided opinions and perceptions of microorganisms. The whole samples (100 %) said that microorganism mean bacteria. About 97,91% students said that all the bacteria caused illness (germ) and 2,08% stated that not all of bacteria caused illness. They gained that knowlegde about microorganisms at the age of -12 years from parents (22,92%), public community (10,41%), elementary school teachers (6,25%), and mass media (14,58%) and both of teachers and parents (31,25%). Students misconceptions regarding microorganisms indicated that parents, teachers, society, and the mass media had important role in childrens basic knowledge formation. PGSD students as prospective primary teachers is necessary to understand the misperceptions against microorganisms and straighten it. Precise information regarding the microorganisms will awaken the children on the advantages and disadvantages of microorganisms and the types. The results of this study provided a challenge to the science lecturer in assisting students to straighten out the misconceptions .
